Last week it was the comic in which Winston mocked me for not walking. This week it’s the comic in which I show him that I can.
Winston gave me some advice in last week’s episode: Just “… walk without holding on to stuff,” he said. Easier said than done, especially when you have four legs, schnauzer.
But Winston was right; I needed to keep trying. The very next day I managed to take my first wobbly steps all by myself! When mama and I got home from school she put me down and I don’t know how to explain it, I just decided to take off walking across the office. Mama couldn’t believe her eyes; she thought she was seeing things! I repeated the performance for my proud parents, and spent most of the evening (obsessively) practicing. It takes a lot of balance to walk, especially when the thrill of accomplishment gets me so excited (“I’m doing it! I’m doing it!”) that I nearly fall over.  I love walking towards mama or daddy because they’re so happy about it and cheer me on, and then I get to crash land into their arms. That always makes us all giggle.
Winston is of course giving himself all the credit for my miraculous new ability, and his big ego is elated that I can chase him now. He better be careful about getting too excited, though, because now there’s no getting away from me. Look out, world! I’m independently mobile! (Thanks for the push, Winston.)
